People throw challenges when it doesn't at all benefit them to win. If every option that is presented from winning a challenge puts you in the same position or worse, and losing presents options that improve your position, losing is the strategically superior option.
And no one is trolling. People are playing the way they want to play and trying to enjoy your game! Calm down.
